COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater Legg Middle School student was sent to the hospital this morning, the victim of a traffic crash while riding her bike to school.
Coldwater Police were dispatched to the accident on West Chicago Street (US-12) near Munson Street on the City’s west side shortly after 7:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they determined that the sixth-grade girl was riding her bike to school.
As she crossed West Chicago Street, she was struck by a pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, a 29-year-old male from Bronson, was travelling westbound on West Chicago Street when the crash occurred.
The bicyclist was treated at the scene by the Coldwater Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance. She was then transported to Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater before being flown by helicopter to a hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment.
