COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite some light rain both Sunday morning and overnight Sunday night into Monday morning, very dry conditions continue around Branch County and most of the region.
The National Drought Mitigation Center last week listed southern Branch County as being under moderate drought conditions and the northern half was listed as abnormally dry.
In August Branch County was more than four inches below average rainfall for the month and so far September hasn’t been any better with the county on pace to be 3 inches or more below normal precipitation.
The lack of rain is also affecting water levels at several Branch County lakes as they are now well below normal.
Some relief is expected this week, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast every day this week, although some chances are as low as 20% on some days.
