Lillian was born to Albert and Mary (Dinkoski) Russell in Eagle Lake, ME. May 28, 1983 she married James Anderson in Livonia, MI and he preceded her in death in 2000 but not before sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and travel.
Lillian began her working career with Ford Motor Company where she worked for 20 dedicated years before retiring in 1976. After stepping away from the automotive industry, she embarked on a new path, pursuing yet another career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Livonia, where she worked for three years before dedicating her time as a volunteer with Angela Hospice, an experience that catered to her lifelong commitment to caring for others.
Never one to stop learning, Lillian later returned to her passion in nursing, earning her master’s degree at the remarkable age of 85.
Her volunteering continued throughout her life, where she also served at the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center in Coldwater, MI. As a woman of faith, Lillian faithfully attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Coldwater, MI.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as knitting, crocheting, reading, walking, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. She especially cherished her home on Dragon Lake, which she fondly called her “paradise.” Lillian’s adventurous spirit took her across the world to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Japan and most of the United States but her greatest journey was the one she lived every day through kindness, service, and love.
Lillian’s warmth, generosity, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Lillian leaves behind her children Allen Giedra of Ohio, Gary (Sylvia) Giedra of Moxee, WA; her siblings Jeanne Fitzgerald of Florida, William (Audrey) Kima of Connecticut; her grandchildren Rachel Huwe, Aaron Giedra; great grandchildren Hannah Dockter, Tabatha Huwe, Sarah Huwe, Andrew Huwe; her great-great grandson Kyler Brekke; her many loving nieces and nephews; and her close friends Linda Slogeris, Donna Laskosky, and John Rust.
In addition to her husband James, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Judy Zammit, her son Kevin Giedra, and her siblings Loraine Slogeris, Henry Russell, Roy Russell, George Russell, and Albert Russell.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center or to Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.
