BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A home in the 400 block of US-12 in Branch Counties Batavia Township is a total loss, following a fire early Friday morning.
Bronson fire fighters were dispatched just before 5:00 a.m., and chief Scott Wilber describes the scene as the first crews arrived on the scene.
Wilber says the firefighting efforts were hampered by the amount of contents inside the home.
As for the cause of the blaze, Wilber says he is working with State Police investigators to determine how it started.
Fire crews were on the scene for more than five hours this morning and had to shut down a portion of US-12 due to the homes proximity to the highway.
Bronson received mutual aid from Coldwater, Lakeland, Burr Oak, Colon, Union City and Sherwood Fire Departments.
There were no reported injuries and no dollar amount has been tied to the loss.
We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
