COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The renovations of the courtrooms in the Branch County Courthouse which began in July are almost complete.
The Branch County Board of Commissioners were told during their work session on Thursday that the target date for completion for the work in the District and Circuit Courts is December 21.
The Probate Court was renovated during July and August.
The Board of Commissioners authorized $530,000 for the project and County Administrator Frank Walsh says they are presently $71,000 under budget.
With seven weeks left before the renovations are scheduled to be complete, the IT upgrades have cost $163,000 which is about $13,000 more than budgeted.
But the new furniture and construction change orders have only cost $296,000 which is well below the budgeted figure of $380,000.
Recent work in the District Court has included the installation of wall coverings, bathroom tile and countertops. Work in the Circuit Court has included the installation of lights and vinyl wall coverings.
