COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater is ready to move forward with the second phase of the Western Meadows project.
The Coldwater City Council approved a $34,000 professional services agreement with Fishbeck Services of Lansing Monday night so that design work can begin.
City Manager Keith Baker said in his memo to the Council that the city staff envisions developing Phase Two in a similar fashion as the First Phase.
Utilities and infrastructure would be built in phases. The lots would then be sold to single family home builders.
The lot sales and the brownfield housing tax increment financing district would reimburse the City for the costs of the project.
The City bought about 15 acres on the west side of Western Avenue from Robert Rumsey in 2016 for $95,816 for potential future development.
The City Council accepted the site plan application for the First Phase of the proposed subdivision in June.
The first of three phases will feature single family residential homes that will be priced at between $350,000 and $400,000. Eventually, plans call for between 30 and 35 units to be built in the area of Western Avenue and State Street.
