COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County’s 2026 general fund budget of over $19-point-2 million was formally adopted by the Board of Commissioners Wednesday.
County Administrator Frank Walsh said there have been very few changes since the budget was first presented to Commissioners last month.
He pointed out things have gone in a positive direction over the last year.
The 2026 full time employee staffing plan calls for an additional corrections officer whose primary duty will be courthouse security.
In the past, the county budget was formally adopted by the Commissioners during their final meeting of the year in December but the process was changed this year.
Walsh and Deputy County Administrator/Finance Director Jessica Miller held meetings with department heads and elected officials in August.
The proposed budget will first be presented to Commissioners during their work session October 9.
The required budget hearing was conducted Wednesday before final adoption.
