Coach Wayne K. Kellogg, 92, of Coldwater, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025 in Coldwater with his family by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Rosary will be held following the visitation at 6:00 p.m. Interment will take place following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
He was born April 29, 1933 to William and Vera (Gamble) Kellogg in Olivet, MI. He met the love of his life, Dorothy (Nierenberger) Kellogg at Olivet High School and they were married September 6, 1953, and enjoyed 72 wonderful years of marriage.
Wayne was a proud graduate of Michigan State University where he was a member of the football team for 2 years. He began his lifelong career in education at Coldwater High School in 1955. During his 38 years at Coldwater High School as a teacher, coach, and athletic director he left a significant impact on youth in the community.
Wayne coached varsity wrestling, varsity track, varsity golf, and was the assistant varsity football coach. He became the Athletic Director in 1972 where he was instrumental in implementing girls’ athletics. During his tenure as athletic director he was recognized as Regional Athletic Director of the year, Michigan Athletic Director of the year and Midwest Athletic Director of the year. He retired from education in 1993.
He was also active in his church and community. He attended St. Charles Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary. He was also a very active member of the Lions Club, Elks Club, and Optimist Club. He was also recognized as a dedicated trustee of Coldwater Township for nearly 20 years of service.
Above all else, Wayne was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his children Phillip (Kristin) Kellogg, Christopher (Dena) Kellogg, Mark (Cheryl) Kellogg, Jeffrey (Roxine) Kellogg, Theresa (Bill) Welke, Timothy (Bridgette) Kellogg, Patricia (Chad) Blair; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Calvin, and daughter Elizabeth “Lisa” Kellogg.
