COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – What do people most like about Coldwater?
For respondents of the city’s Master Plan update general survey, it’s parks and recreation facilities and programs, the proximity to I-69, local restaurants and businesses, historic character, and open space, nature, and parks.
539 people participated in that portion of the survey, with the results unveiled at a community open house Tuesday.
111 people participated in the youth survey, with parks and nature topping their list of likes, as well as sports and recreation, events and festivals, safe neighborhoods, and shopping and restaurants.

Survey respondents said downtown as a point of identity was an opportunity of strength that Coldwater should build on, as well as public space, recreation, and nature, arts and history, a strong sense of community pride, a diverse mix of cultures, and downtown as a destination.
Survey takers were also asked what challenges is Coldwater and what would they like to see change. Answers included community safety and homelessness, a shortage of affordable housing, traffic congestion and unsafe driving, a general decline of the downtown, cultural integration and communication, and limited shopping options downtown.
Attendees at the open house Tuesday were also asked to share their vision for what they want Coldwater to look like in 20 years, and to provide specific types or businesses other additions they would to see and where they should be located in the community.

Work on the Master Plan update is scheduled to continue through September 2026.

These are ridiculous. The surveys only offer choices the city wants then they claim the public “told them” it is what they want. The master plan only restrict the regular folks. When a connected person wants to change everything for their best interested it gets done but the regular folks must stand down.
