COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County remains strapped into a “roller coaster” winter characterized by drastic temperature swings and messy precipitation. Following a week of record-challenging highs near 60° , the National Weather Service describes the current pattern as “bizarre,” with temperatures fluctuating nearly 20 degrees above seasonal averages.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to maintain the “January Thaw” with highs in the mid-30s to low-40s.
The winter weather coaster is set for a sharp descent starting Wednesday, as rain transitions into a wintry mix. By the weekend, forecasters warn of a deep freeze where highs may struggle to reach the low 20s and wind chills could dip into the single digits along with a threat of accumulating snow on Friday and Saturday.
