COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As a frigid cold snap is set grips much of the middle part of the country this weekend into next week, the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center in Coldwater is stepping up to support vulnerable community members.
The center will operate as an emergency warming shelter starting Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and continuing through Wednesday, January 21 at 8:00 a.m.. The facility will provide cots and blankets for sleeping, along with meals to help individuals escape the dangerously low temperatures forecasted for the period.
The center is actively seeking volunteers for day shifts to assist with operations and warmly welcomes donations to keep the shelter running smoothly.
Needed items include gift cards from local stores for purchasing food, beverages, toiletries, and paper supplies, as well as cash, checks, or PayPal contributions.

Additional daytime warming is available at the First Presbyterian Church in Coldwater from Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m-11:30 a.m. Those in need of further assistance are encouraged to dial 2-1-1 for referrals to local resources.
