HOLT, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater dropped a 59-34 non-conference girls basketball game at Holt Tuesday night, as the Rams outscored the Cardinals 39-19 in the second half. Coldwater was without the services of leading scorer Mya Porter, who was out sick.
Rylie VanAken had a team-high 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, while Marie Powers tallied 8 points, 7 boards, and 2 assists. Coley Burkhardt had 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks to go with her 4 points.
The Cardinals fell to 7-5 and will visit Marshall Friday.
Coldwater also lost the JV game 38-20.

In other girls basketball action from Tuesday night, Quincy improved to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big 8 with a 20-point win at Springport, 48-28. Kendyl Musielewicz had a game high 16 for the Orioles, Ashlyn Fickle added 13 and freshman Josi Parker just missed a triple double with 11 points, 10 steals and 9 rebounds.
The Orioles, who are now tied with Union City for third place in the league standings, will travel to second-place Stockbridge on Thursday.
Bronson’s home game against Maple Valley was rescheduled for Saturday, February 7th. The Vikings will play at Union City Thursday night.
The Quincy boys basketball team got past visiting Hillsdale 50-47 to improve to 5-6 overall. The Orioles will visit Stockbridge on Friday. Wednesday night, Bronson will take on Marshall Academy at the University of Olivet’s Cutler Center.
