COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another “Love Local” event is officially in the books for downtown Coldwater, proving that nothing warms the heart—or the stomach—quite like a little community competition.
Despite the winter chill, over 130 participants braved the elements to sample 24 savory soups and chilis hosted by 15 local restaurants. The atmosphere was bolstered by live music from Russell Gates and special promotions from downtown merchants.
After the ballots were tallied, two local favorites emerged at the top of the leaderboard as Oscar Brown’s Tavern took home the top prize for their rich and flavorful Seafood Chowder. Hope Café earned runner up with the “Souper Seconds Award” for their unique and tangy Cheesy Lime Soup.
The event wasn’t just a win for the chefs, Janice Hemker was the lucky winner of the participant drawing, walking away with a Valentine’s-themed gift basket filled with local goodies valued at over $300.
