JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – A devastating house fire in Jackson, claimed the lives of two young children and left several others injured on the morning of Sunday.
Firefighters from the Jackson Fire Department were dispatched to the 900 block of South Gorham Street around 8:00 a.m., where they found the home heavily engulfed in smoke and flames. While crews were able to pull a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old from the blaze, both children were tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The blaze also caused significant injuries to three adults and one first responder.
A male victim suffering from severe burns was rushed to the University of Michigan hospital, while a female victim and an injured firefighter were transported to Henry Ford Health for evaluation.
While the fire was eventually extinguished, the cause remains under active investigation by the Michigan State Police.
