BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy has officially completed a significant power line upgrade spanning 2.5 miles from the city of Bronson into Bethel Township , aimed at bolstering local grid reliability.
The project, which began in October and just recently concluded, involved rebuilding lines along U.S. 12 from Wayne Street to Wildlife Road. During the construction, crews from contractor ARC American replaced traditional poles and arms, increased wire sizes, and integrated new grid technology designed to withstand severe weather and reduce service interruptions for residents and businesses in the area.
This infrastructure project is a key component of Consumers Energy’s multi-year, $9 billion Reliability Roadmap, a comprehensive plan to modernize Michigan’s electric system.
By replacing aging equipment with stronger materials and advanced sensors, Consumers continues working to meet the ambitious long-term goals, including ensuring no customer remains without power for more than 24 hours after a storm.
The completion of the Bethel Township upgrades follows a record-setting year for the company, which saw nearly 2,700 reliability projects completed across the state in 2025 alone.
