BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Aivry Chavez’s goal off a direct free kick with 25 seconds left lifted Coldwater to a 3-2 Interstate 8 girls soccer victory at Pennfield Monday night.
The Panthers scored a pair of unassisted goals within the first six minutes of the contest and led 2-0 at halftime. The Cardinal comeback effort began with a pair of goals from Samantha Bernard in the first five minutes of the second half, with Etta Machan assisting on both. Coldwater continued to battle and won a free kick with 35 seconds left in the contest, setting up Chavez’s heroics.
The Cardinals improved to 4-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Interstate 8. They will visit Parma Western on Wednesday.
QUINCY, MI – Quincy improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the Big 8 with at 4-0 shutout of visiting Bronson. Laura Bostic recorded a natural hat trick with three goals in the first half, while Mackenzi Maynard added a goal in the second. The Orioles will host Maple Valley on Friday.
The Vikings fell to 2-3-1 overall, 1-2 in the Big 8. They will entertain Maple Valley Wednesday night.
