BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – April in Branch County continues to be a big headache for high school athletic directors, as another round of rain Friday brought about inclement field and court conditions and the cancellation of a handful of events:
- Bronson baseball vs. Fremont
- Union City softball at Homer
- Coldwater girls tennis vs. Kalamazoo Central
The announcement of the Fremont-Bronson cancellation on the Bronson Viking Athletics Facebook page summed up the situation succinctly: “Mother Nature Wins Again!” Makeup dates for the above events have not been announced yet.
They were able to get in a girls soccer game at Quincy. The Orioles defeated Maple Valley 9-0, and in the process, junior Laura Bostic broke the school’s career goals record. She now sits at 92, with plenty of time to build on the mark the rest of this season and all of next year. Quincy improved to 5-3 overall, 4-0 in the Big 8, and will visit Stockbridge on Monday.
The Union City track invitational also went off without a hitch at Alumni Field.
