BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater tied with Harper Creek for fifth place at the Lakeview Invitational Monday at Cedar Creek Golf Club. Both teams had scores of 316, ten shots behind first-place Portage Central. John Petzko, the head coach of the Cardinals, noted that it was his team’s best finish of the season. In a testament to the closeness of the scores at the top half of the leaderboard, only twelve strokes separated first place from seventh.
For the Cardinals, Jake Fosdick and Joseph Searls each shot a 77, Dracyn Foster and Kolton Rice each fired 81, and Jack Aker had an 83.
Coldwater returns to action this Friday at the Matthew Krutsch Memorial Invitational, hosted by Hillsdale Academy at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

Coldwater also participated in the Lakeview JV Invitational last Friday at Cedar Creek. The Cardinals came away with a seventh place finish out of the 15 teams that played with a team score of 365. Mattawan and Portage Central tied for first with a 320; Mattawan won on the fifth golfer tiebreaker.
Coldwater was led by Liam Doll, who shot a round of 88. Wayne Case had a 90, Cohen Taylor 93, Braxton Bercaw 94, Aiden Parker 99, and Parker Nelson 104.
MARSHALL, MI – Union City took part in the Austin Pitts Memorial “Pittsy” Scramble on Monday, hosted by Homer at the Marshall Country Club.
The duo of Blayne Crance and Gabe Mowry finished fifth with a score of 81, and the pair of Ryen Dibert and Luke Arlt placed 18th with a 95.
The Chargers are back in action Tuesday at the sixth Big 8 jamboree of the season, hosted by Maple Valley at Centennial Acres.
