HOMER, MI (WTVB) – Union City’s baseball team improved to 12-8 overall after sweeping a non-conference doubleheader Friday at Homer, 14-2 and 10-1.
The first game saw the Chargers outhit the Trojans 19-1. Mitchell Graham was 3-for-5 with 5 RBIs, while Tucker Zweng and Nolan Chard also had three hits apiece. Pitchers Micah and Liam Payne combined on the one-hitter.
The hot hitting continued for Union City in the second game, out-hitting Homer 15-2. Zweng went 4-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBIs, Chard hit two doubles and drove in three runs, Graham singled and doubled, and Simon Swartzle was 3-for-5 at the plate. Carter Bezaire earned the victory on the mound.
The Chargers will be in Colon Saturday for the Darmofal Tournament.
