Myrtle L. Slusher, 92, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Union Church of Quincy, 8 Fulton Street, with Pastor Kevin Looper officiating.
The family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of service at the church. Following the service, burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery in Reading.
After the burial, a light luncheon will be provided at the Quincy American Legion pool hall, 104 East Chicago Street.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home–George White Chapel in Quincy.
She was born in Coldwater December 4, 1933 to Edwin and Leona Yockey.
Myrtle graduated from Coldwater High School and devoted more than 30 years to serving older adults through the Branch County Commission on Aging. She was a talented and creative woman who enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing, and she was known for being an exceptional cook. She cherished time spent with her family and friends, loved cuddling with her cat, Muffin, and enjoyed traveling and the occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherry (Craig) Gaff, Linda Fick, and Penny (Patrick) Tappenden; three step-children, Susan (Chris) Pierce, Cindy Smith, Clinton Slusher. She leaves behind six grandchildren, Joshua and Elisabeth Eggleston, Trisha Tappenden, Marcus Fick, Nolan (Taylor) Tappenden, and Audrey Tappenden; and seven great-grandchildren: Logan, Ayla, Finnly and Lane Eggleston, Dakota Tappenden, Kaylin Eicher, and Asher Will. Myrtle is also remembered by many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Leona Yockey; son, Gary Lee Eggleston; both husbands, Max Eggleston and Donald Slusher; granddaughter, Jessica Marie Tripp; great-granddaughter, Gabby Tripp; and siblings, Don, Richard “Dick” and Dwayne Yockey, Dorothy Warner, Rita Hantz and Doretha Johnson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Branch County.
