UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Society for Historic Preservation will introduce the “Union City Cornerstones Historic Walking Tour” on June 13th, from 2–4 PM at Union City Middle School.
Developed with local and state partners, the project connects the community through public art, murals, and historical sites, highlighting the Underground Railroad, the St. Joseph River, and a memorial for the March 6th tornado.
Special guest speaker and author Robin Foster, a descendant of Freedom Seekers, will join the presentation. The initiative aims to boost heritage tourism and foster youth involvement through school partnerships and hands-on learning, creating opportunities for students to become local historians and guides.
This free, public event will detail how the tour aims to transform the village into a destination for visitors while preserving local stories. For more information, contact the Union City Society for Historic Preservation at ucshphammondhouse@gmail.com or 269-251-0534.
