COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Robert W Brown Recreation Center in Coldwater will remain closed until early August due to scheduled flooring renovations.
The closure, which began this past Monday and is slated to run through at least the end of the month, allows maintenance crews uninterrupted access to overhaul multiple interior athletic surfaces.
City Manager Keith Baker said the updates were due after more than a decade of serving the community
In addition to the new multi purpose courts, crews are also refinishing the facility’s existing wood flooring in the gym.
Baker says the closing has forced the rec center staff to temporarily relocate.
Local officials emphasized that while the short-term closure disrupts daily workout routines and indoor sports leagues, the long-term upgrades will significantly elevate the overall quality of the facility.
Regular indoor activities, fitness routines, and track access are expected to resume immediately following the project’s completion by the first week of August.
