COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A fatal garage fire at 64 Grand Street in Coldwater caused an estimated $75,000 in damages and resulted in one death on Saturday evening evening.
Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall says their department was dispatched at 7:18 p.m. Saturday, with the first arriving crews reporting heavy fire and smoke coming from a finished room inside the garage. With mutual aid from Quincy and Bronson fire departments, they were able to bring the blaze under control in about 20 minutes, though crews did remain on scene for several hours to conduct an investigation, clearing the scene at around 11:05 pm..

The fire caused $50,000 in structural damage and $25,000 in property loss.
The name of the person killed in the fire has not been released and the exact cause remains under investigation.
CFD received assistance from multiple agencies including the Coldwater Police and Michigan State Police.
