COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – An 18-year-old man was hospitalized Monday following a crash between an Amish buggy and a pickup truck.
According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of North Fiske Road and Jonesville Road at 4:22 p.m., preliminary investigation determined that a 2013 Ford F-150, driven by a 45-year-old Quincy man, was traveling southbound on North Fiske Road when it struck the rear of an Amish buggy that was also traveling southbound.
The buggy was occupied by three men, ages 18, 20, and 23.
The 18-year-old occupant was transported by LifeCare Ambulance to Insight Hospital Medical Center Coldwater with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other two occupants were evaluated at the scene for minor injuries and declined further medical treatment.
Under Sheriff Jason Bingham says inclement weather is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash, but it does remain under investigation.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Coldwater Police Department,
LifeCare Ambulance, Coldwater Fire Department, and Branch County Central Dispatch.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to exercise additional caution during adverse weather conditions by
reducing speed, increasing following distance, and remaining alert for slow-moving vehicles sharing the roadway.
