HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A Litchfield man is now facing charges in connection to a February accident that ultimately claimed the life of a Hillsdale woman.
48-year-old Earl Harris was behind the wheel of a Hillsdale County owned pickup truck on February 17, when he allegedly struck 68-year old Joni Norris as she was using a crosswalk at McCollum and Broad Streets in Hillsdale. Norris eventually succumbed to her severe injuries on March 7, after being airlifted and hospitalized following the accident.
Following a more than six month investigation into the accident, Harris was charged this week by Hillsdale County prosecutors with felony reckless driving causing death and and a misdemeanor moving violation causing death.
Harris has since bonded out of jail and will make his next court appearance for probable cause conference on August 5, at 10:00 a.m. before Magistrate Megan R. Stiverson.
