COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Bealls a large discount retailer is planning to open a new store in Coldwater, though company officials have not yet made an official public announcement.
The retailer has started accepting applications for management positions at the upcoming location, which is set to occupy the former Dunham’s Sports building on East Chicago Street.
Bealls describes itself a primary off-price retail chain offering name brand clothing, shoes and home goods at discounted prices. Headquartered in Bradenton, Florida the company operates more than 660 stores in 22 states and opened their first store 1915.
Crews have been working to remodel the inside of the former sporting goods store for the last several weeks.
While a formal opening date has not been released, the decision to begin management hiring indicates that preparations for an opening sometime this fall is likely. When the Coldwater location opens it will be the first Bealls in the state of Michigan, currently the closest store is in Angola, that location opened last December.
