KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team opened their season Wednesday with a 3-1 victory at Kalamazoo Central.
Abdulhamid Munassar had a pair of second half goals and Ahmed Norman had all three assists to lead the Cardinals.
Hamza Alammari got the opening goal of the season just 10 minutes into the game. Kalamazoo Central got the tying goal 10 seconds into the second half before Munassar scored the game winning goal with 11:40 to play, then added an insurance goal with 6:38 left in the game.
Jensley Norvilus had one save in goal as Coldwater outshot Kalamazoo Central 18-3.
The Coldwater junior varsity team tied Central 1-1. Mohamed Alaqrai scored the Cardinals lone goal in thd second half, with Coldwater giving up the tying goal with about three minutes to play in the game.
Both the varsity and junior varsity teams will host Lansing Eastern Thursday, with the JV contest starting at 5:00 p.m., then travel to DeWitt for the Panther Invitational Saturday.
Elsewhere, Quincy was shut out at Will Carleton Academy 5-0. The Orioles trailed 2-0 at halftime. Quincy travels to Manchester on Friday.
