HAMILTON, IN (WTVB) – A 44-year-old Warsaw, Indiana woman, was arrested after multiple witnesses reported seeing her repeatedly punch a child outside of a Hamilton Church in Steuben County.
According to the probable cause affidavit, police responded to a domestic battery call and intercepted a vehicle driven by Amy Fuller as she was speeding away from the scene.
Authorities noted that the child appeared terrified and exhibited a prominent hand-shaped welt on their leg, while a subsequent medical examination at Cameron Health revealed a large lump on the back of the victim’s head.
Four bystanders signed statements alleging that Fuller dragged the child to her car and punched them with closed fists after the child asked for water.
Fuller allegedly told police that she reacted because the child was “embarrassing me in front of people”.
She was booked into the Steuben County Jail and faces charges of Level 5 felony domestic battery and Level 6 felony neglect of a dependent.
If convicted on both counts, she faces a combined maximum sentence of up to eight and a half years in prison.
