BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Legg Middle School girls volleyball season got underway Tuesday.
The 8th grade A team traveled to Pennfield and won 25-23 ,25-22. Leading the team on the serving line was Bella Vanderpuyl 12 points and 9 aces, Kenadee Cutler with nine points and three aces, Hayden Riley with eight points and four aces, and Jordi Wilson with six points and two aces.
Peyton Riley and Avery Foster each had two digs, while Bella Vanderpuyl had one block. The team will host Harper Creek next Tuesday.
The 8th grade B team beat Pennfield 2-1, winning the first two games 25-14, 25-15 and dropping the third game 9-15.
Scoring for the Lady Cards were Dani Cruz-Aburto, serving 27/28, with 12 aces and one assist. Payton Newland serving 6/9 with three aces, one kill, and one dig, Maddie Floyd serving 4/7 with three aces, and Lylah Sanford serving 1/3 with two kills, two assists, and one dig.
The 7th grade A team fell to Pennfield 2-1, winning the first set 25-21, but losing the next two 24-26 and 11-15.
The 7th grade B team topped Pennfield 3-0, winning 25-21, 25-12, 15-4.
