LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Governor Gretchen Whitmer is urging Enbridge to shut down its Line 5 oil and natural gas pipelines and seek alternatives.
She says the state needs to consider the impact of a Michigan Supreme Court decision on permits issued in July for Enbridge’s proposed pipeline tunnel under the Straits of Mackinac.
Whitmer sent a letter to Enbridge CEO Gregory Ebel, calling on the Canadian company to stop treating the tunnel idea as the only alternative to the existing pipelines on the lakebed along the Straits of Mackinac.
