STEUBEN COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – A Syracuse man faces multiple criminal charges following a string of alleged domestic altercations, threats, and a subsequent break-in involving a weapon at a Steuben County residence last week .
48-year-old Anthony H. Raycroft II, was taken into custody and charged him with felony residential entry alongside misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, intimidation, and resisting law enforcement.
According to Steuben Superior Court affidavits, The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department initially responded to the property around 8:30 p.m. last Tuesday regarding an intoxicated and hostile individual. Witnesses reported that Raycroft had physically assaulted two relatives and threatened to take another person’s life before fleeing.
A multi-agency search involving Steuben County and Branch County deputies ensued. Shortly after 10 p.m., a second emergency call alerted dispatchers that Raycroft had returned to the scene, gained entry through the garage, and was armed with a knife.
Court records indicate that police were successfully able detained Raycroft inside the house, though he allegedly resisted being handcuffed.
Before being booked into jail, Raycroft was transported to Cameron Memorial Community Hospital for a medical evaluation. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum penalty of five and a half years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
