QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – The racing community is rallying around drivers Jordan Welch and Deuane Morley following two separate accidents during Saturday night’s John C. Reeve Memorial at Butler Motor Speedway.
Sprint Car driver Jordan Welch was hospitalized after a serious on-track accident.
In an update shared by his family on Sunday, it was revealed that Welch has been released from the hospital after being treated for a fractured T4 vertebra. Fortunately, medical staff confirmed that he retains full mobility and feeling.
Meanwhile, Street Stock division driver Deuane Morley also endured a frightening crash during the heat races.
Morley was caught in a multi-car pile-up on the opening lap, hitting a stopped car in front of him before being struck from behind.
The impact caused what his racing team described as unprecedented back pain, prompting an ambulance transport him to Insight Hospital and Medical Center Coldwater.
Fortunately according to social media posts from Morley Motorsports, scans and medical evaluations confirmed that he will be okay; though he faces a period of intense soreness and his car sustained season-ending damage, the post went on to say he had since been discharged from the hospital and is doing well.
