QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy will make upgrades to a substation later this week to improve reliability for customers in the community.
The overnight work will temporarily affect 3,507 Branch County customers in the city of Quincy and Quincy Township.
The upgrades are scheduled for 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, until as late as 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
Steve Herrygers, Consumers Energy’s executive director of high-voltage distribution “Work like this helps ensure we keep the lights on more often for customers who count on us,” he added “We appreciate our customers’ patience while we carry out this overnight project and expect this will help reduce the number and length of unexpected outages in the future.”
Postcards have been mailed to affected customers in the area. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for outage alerts at ConsumersEnergy.com/alerts to receive real‑time updates on their scheduled outage and any changes to the planned work.
Consumers Energy often schedules work like this overnight, when many people are asleep, to minimize disruptions to businesses or other activities.
The backup date for this work is Saturday, Sept. 26, if necessary.
