BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – It took until the middle of February but the first major storm of this winter is expecting to deliver a big punch.
Branch County and the surrounding counties remain under a Winter Storm Warning until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service late Monday afternoon increased the potential storm total to eight to 12 inches of snow.
Travel was not being advised for Monday night and significant impacts on the Tuesday morning commute are expected.
Snow will continue to increase in coverage and intensity until 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning with snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour expected.
Gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, mainly in rural areas. Wind chills overnight into Tuesday morning will range from 10 below to zero.
