Our Good News of the Day, from Coldwater High School principal Bill Milnes:
Coldwater High School is excited and honored to announce that senior Tate Hostetler has been recognized as a National Merit ® Scholarship Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Out of the millions of current seniors in the United States, only 15,000 qualify as a Finalist to move on in the academic scholarship program based on their performance in the national PSAT and SAT tests taken by students throughout the nation. Out of the 15,000 Finalists, 7,500 will be selected to receive the Merit Scholarship.
Tate has been very active within CHS and in the community. He is a member of the CHS National Honor Society, he is the President of both the Youth Engaged in Prevention Club and the CHS Interact Club, and he was the Drum Major of the CHS Marching Band as well as the current trombone section leader in the Symphonic Band. He is involved in the community as the Branch County Youth Advisory Council President and a vital member of the Coldwater Free Methodist Church worship team as their keyboard player. He loves playing his trombone and the piano while also taking time for cycling and watching sports.
Tate plans to hopefully attend the University of Central Florida or the University of South Florida and he is undecided as to which major or course of study he plans to pursue. Over the years, going back to 1959, CHS has had 41 National Merit Finalists with the latest being Tate’s sister, Selena Hostetler in 2019.
Tate is not only an amazing academic student, outstanding artistic performer, and strong leader within our school and in community groups. He is also a caring, thoughtful, empathetic, inspirational, humble, helpful, service-minded individual who positively impacts everyone and every program he comes into contact with. There is no telling what wonderful accomplishments he will be a part of in the future, but there will be many.
Congratulations to CHS senior Tate Hostetler.
