COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A local funeral home has arranged for extra equipment to assist City of Coldwater crews as they attempt to repair damage done last week to momuments and memorials at Oak Grove Cemetery.
A crew from Sunset Memorials in Lansing came in Wednesday to stand up large memorials that had been knocked down in the old section of Oak Grove Cemetery.
Dutcher Funeral Home funeral director Brian Wells says a large boom crane which can move 2,500 kilograms had to be used on the substantial headstones. He said they were trying to help Coldwater Department of Municipal Services crews, and the process will take several days.
Wells says some of the smaller marble headstones were damaged and smashed beyond repair.
Over 100 memorials and monuments were damaged in the vandalism.
Coldwater Police continue to investigate. No suspects have been arrested yet.
