BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A three vehicle crash east of Bronson on Friday afternoon took the life of a Coldwater man while two other persons suffered minor injuries.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at 3:23 p.m. on U.S. 12 at Pond Drive as 64-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Jonas was trying to make a left hand turn.
His 2014 Ford Fiesta was struck from behind by a 2014 Ford Expedition which was driven by 41-year-old Magali Lagunas of Bronson.
Jonas’s vehicle was then pushed into the east bound lane of U.S. 12 and was struck broadside by a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 64-year-old Christopher Pavka of Coldwater.
Jonas was pronounced dead at the scene while Lagunas and Pavka were treated for minor injuries at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the crash. They were assisted by Life Care Ambulance, the Bronson Fire Department, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department and 911 Towing.
