COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A premium cigar shop that opened in downtown Coldwater just over a year ago right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit has left the city.
The Corona Smoke Shop opened in the former Wilbur’s Furniture store at 4 South Monroe in early March 2020, about four months after Jason and Amanda Phebus of Parma purchased the property.
But tobacco stores and smoke shops in Michigan were forced to shut down a few weeks later under one of Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders that were issued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Coldwater store was originally open Monday through Saturday but was down to being open just on Saturdays in the middle of January.
A “For Lease” sign is now in the store’s window and the phone for the business has been disconnected.
There are still four Corona Smoke Shops in Michigan. They are located in Battle Creek, Albion, Eaton Rapids and Jackson. A fifth store is scheduled to open soon in Williamston.
