PARMA, MI (WTVB) – Parma Western grabbed sole possession of first place in the Interstate 8 Conference on Friday night as they rallied for a 67-63 victory over the Coldwater Cardinals. Coldwater jumped out to a 22-9 lead after the first quarter but Western cut the lead to nine points, 34-25, at the half. Western used a 20-7 third quarter to take a 45-41 lead in the final quarter. Coldwater had a 63-61 lead with less than a minute to go but Western scored the last six points of the game in the final 39 seconds. Foul trouble caught up with the Cardinals as both Gage McGuire and Dylan Targgart fouled out in the fourth quarter. McGuire led the Cardinals with 18 points and 11 rebounds while Ethan Crabtree had 11 points and four assists. Targgart and Damon Beckhusen both had nine points. Coldwater is now 12-3 overall and 8-2 in the Interstate 8.
