PARMA, MI (WTVB) – In high school basketball, Coldwater travels to Parma Western Friday night for an Interstate 8 Conference girls/boys varsity basketball doubleheader against the Panthers. The winner of the boys game will be in first place in the I-8 standings with just two weeks to go in the regular season.
The Panthers have won six straight while the Cardinals have won five in a row. Coldwater is 9-1 and lead Western by a half game for first place. Coldwater handed Western their lone loss in the I-8 back on December 21 when they defeated the Panthers 60-55. The Coldwater girls defeated Western 60-44 on that same night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium thanks to an 18-8 fourth quarter.
Tonight’s doubleheader starts at 6:00 p.m.. on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 WTVB and on line at www.wtvbam.com, with the audio also streaming on Facebook Live.

Boys Freshman..Coldwater 40, Parma Western 32. Nate Tappenden led Coldwater with 15 points. Jett Galloway and Kyle Sheppard each had eight points.

Quincy 64, Reading 56 Connor McKnight and Coy Clancy both had 11 points.
Girls JV…Western 42, Coldwater 33. Brooke Moore had 14 points for Coldwater
Girls Freshman…Coldwater 32, Western 30 Anna DeMeester scored 11 points for Coldwater. Jayla Foster got the winning bucket with 15 seconds left.
===MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL===
After a lengthy layoff due to weather and some rescheduled games, the Saint Charles Cougars finally played Thursday night as they defeated from Trinity Lutheran of Sturgis 35-17. The Cougars were led in scoring by Brady Mescher with 13 points, Manny Ortiz, Christopher Grahl and Jimmy Maynard followed with 4 points each.
The Cougars move to 3-0 in conference play. They will play Factoryville Christian Monday at 5:30 p.m. at Pansophia Academy in Coldwater.
