COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Kinderhook Township man has entered a guilty plea in Branch County District Court after he threw a hammer December 12, 2018 and injured a woman at his home on East Copeland Road.
45-year-old Richard Michael Stolte is scheduled to be sentenced March 25, 2019 on a charge of throwing an object at a vehicle. In exchange for his plea, a felonious assault charge is being dismissed by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
Michigan State Police investigated the incident, which took place during an argument that included the woman ramming her vehicle into Stolte’s vehicle.
Stolte then threw a hammer through a door which struck the woman in the face. She had to be treated for a broken jaw and eye socket.
Stolte told Troopers he was not trying to hit the woman when he threw the hammer.
