COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Dustin Scharer as the new Branch Area Careers Center Principal on Wednesday.
He will take over for the retiring Ray Wheaton.
Scharer has spent his entire 19 year educational career in the Jonesville school district. He spent nine years as a teacher and 10 years as the Jonesville High School Principal.
He earned his college degrees at Spring Arbor University and Marygrove College.
Scharer was selected by the Jonesville School Board a couple of weeks ago to serve as the district’s Superintendent but he turned the position down.
Wheaton was one of 11 retiring B.I.S.D. employees who were honored during Wednesday’s meeting at the Waldron Learning Center.
The board plans to meet again next month at the Waldron Center. Superintendent Kris Jenkins said they hope to have the July meeting back in the B.I.S.D. Administration building. Due to COVID-19 protocols, the board has been unable to meet there since February of 2020.
