COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The new year means a change in the leadership at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
Hospital President Randy DeGroot will be retiring as of next Friday after being with the hospital since 1995.
He began as the Chief Financial Officer at the Community Health Center of Branch County before becoming the President and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital in 1999.
DeGroot says there have been many changes in the health care field over the years with perhaps the biggest change being industry consolidation.
ProMedica took over control of the hospital January 1st, 2018 as the facility transitioned from a standalone county hospital to being a member of a large health system.
DeGroot plans to stay in the area during his retirement. He also wants to travel, volunteer, fish and spend time with his family.
Dan Schewanke, who has been with ProMedica Health Systems for 30 years, is taking over as the hospital President. He has held a variety of roles with ProMedica. Most recently, he was the President of ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
