LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State lawmakers have approved a measure that would allow thousands of one-time drunk drivers to expunge their records.
The bill was approved Tuesday in the state House.
If signed into law, about 200 thousand drivers would be eligible to request that their records be cleared.
To be eligible, a driver could have only one offense and the arrest could not have caused another person’s death or injury.
A driver would have to wait five years after their probation period before applying, and a judge would have the final say.
