COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Three Rivers man who entered guilty pleas to five charges after Michigan State Police troopers discovered drugs and various weapons in his vehicle during a traffic stop last March on the north side of Coldwater was sentenced to the State Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
56-year-old Arnold Scott Wright was ordered to serve between 18 months and 20 years for being in possession of methamphetamine. He was given credit for 253 days served.
Wright was also given concurrent sentences of between 18 months and eight to 10 years on four weapons counts.
State Police tried to pull over Wright on March 15 for an equipment violation but he refused and led Troopers on a brief chase.
Once they stopped him, State Police say they found a small baggie of methamphetamine and a loaded magazine for a nine millimeter firearm which was also in the car. A taser and metallic knuckles were also found.
Court records indicate Wright has multiple prior felonies dating back to 1982 that precludes possession of weapons and ammunition.
