BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – An analysis of the onboard computer in the car of two Pennfield High School girls who died in a traffic crash a week ago shows the driver, 16-year-old Sabrina Almaraz had gotten the car up to 103 miles-per-hour just as the car crested a rise on East Avenue, lost control and hit a tree.
Calhoun County Sheriff Matt Saxton says the impact killed Almaraz, and her 17-year-old passenger and friend Kaleigh Woodman. Saxton says they didn’t stand a chance of survival at that speed.
The two were reportedly on their way to Taco Bell at the end of school last Thursday.
