BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Michigan native Brad Keselowski has won the pole for Sunday’s Consumer’s Energy 400 at Michigan International Speedway. He won the top spot on Friday with a speed of 190.471 MPH. Kevin Harvick will start on the outside of row one. William Byron and Alex Bowman will be in the second row. Points leader Kyle Busch will start 24th in the 38-car field. Seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson qualified 12th and is desperately hoping to be in the 16-driver playoffs. Keselowski won the series championship in 2012 and has 30 career Cup victories. He will make his 21st start at MIS, seeking his first win about 70 miles away from his hometown.
Meanwhile, Jimmie Johnson’s feud with Ryan Blaney is showing no signs of slowing down. Johnson still wants Blaney to apologize for making contact from behind going into a turn nearly a week ago at Watkins Glen. The seven-time champion approached the 25-year-old Blaney after the race, pointing his index finger at him during a heated exchange. Blaney said, multiple times while surrounded by reporters, he has no plans to say he’s sorry.
