LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As the deer hunting season is in full swing, the state Dept. of Natural Resources says that it will provide testing stations for hunters to check if their deer have Chronic Wasting Disease, or CWD.
In West Michigan, hunters in Kalamazoo, Allegan, Calhoun, and Barry can take their deer head to a check station to have the testing done for free through early January.
DNR officials say that testing will be performed in the southern three tiers of the state, and that periodic testing will take place in the remainder of Michigan to determine if the disease is spreading.
