COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – No word yet of an arrest, but Michigan State Police say a Coldwater man is a suspect in a case that involved a female juvenile runaway from Marshall, child pornography and larceny. According to an MSP news release, the State Police were asked on September 12 to assist the Marshall Police Department in locating a 16-year old girl, who was found with the 37-year old suspect and later turned over to her father. State Police reported that at the time, they obtained evidence the suspect was in possession of child pornography. Further investigation revealed the man had been doing odd jobs for a Marshall resident and they believe he stole a wedding ring set valued at $20,000. The theft also included sterling silver silverware that was manufactured in the 1950’s.
State Police say the complaint is still under investigation and criminal charges on the suspect may be requested in Branch, Calhoun, and Eaton Counties.
