Bonnie Jean Thompson, 95, of Union City, passed away at home Friday, August 14, 2020 under the care of family and Grace Hospice.
A public visitation will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City, followed by a private funeral ceremony with Pastor David Bogda officiating.
A public graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Bonnie was born December 31, 1924 in Girard Township to Anderson and Vera (Eckert) Whitcomb. Her family moved to Union City when she was in the sixth grade and she graduated from high school there in 1942. On November 1, 1946 she married Louis Danbury, a union which lasted nearly 50 years, until his death in 1996.
The couple owned and operated the Union City Cleaners from 1956-1976. Bonnie later worked as a cook at Union City Middle School and at Weirich’s Farm Market.
She later married Gordon Thompson, who died in 2011. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with family and pursued many hobbies, including crocheting, quilting, baking, gardening, crossword puzzles and playing games with her friends and family.
She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City for many years and she also attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Colon.
Survivors include Bonnie’s children, Sherry (Bob) Yeakey of Union City and Darla (Steve) Pierzchala of Huntertown, IN; step-children, Marcia (Mike) (Thompson) Ringer of Brighton and Kenneth (Linda) Thompson of Union City; grandchildren, Steve Danbury, Kevin Yeakey, Nichole Klein, John Tuckey and Michelle Beagle; step-grandchildren, Melissa Alfano, Katrina Ringer, Tim Ringer and Chris Thompson; 11 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
In addition to her two husbands, Bonnie was preceded in death by a son, Harlan Danbury (2009); a sister, Lois (Whitcomb) Herman; and brothers Clifford and Harry Whitcomb.
